After-Tax Wealth

Tax management is a critical part of helping tax-sensitive clients maximize their after-tax wealth. In fact, we believe that for taxable (non-qualified) accounts, tax management is arguably as important as asset selection and asset allocation. For this and other compelling reasons, such as strong ongoing equity market performance, we think that advisors can help clients better navigate taxable terrain.

Because taxes have the ability to seriously erode investment returns, focusing on after-tax returns is an opportunity for advisors to differentiate themselves to their high net worth investors by helping them keep more of what they earn. We aim to equip advisors with the products and knowledge that they need to successfully implement various tax management strategies for clients and create a sustainable plan to maintain them.

Last year we published the 2016 Advisor Handbook: After-Tax Wealth to help advisors with this very task. Our robust 113-page, 8-section guide cove red a wide range of topics such as focusing on after-tax returns, a deeper dive on investment taxes, smarter asset management, tax planning approaches, why tax management can be good business, Russell Investments’ tax-managed investing program, 2016 tax facts and figures and tax policy, and the 2016 presidential election. It’s an essential guide for any advisor wanting to capitalize on the far-too-often mis sed opportunity to take a proactive and precise approach to tax management in order to make a meaningful difference for their clients. This body of work was also supplemented by additional collateral for advisors seeking to help their investor clients.
