Age of Alzheimer’s: Senior investors are the industry ’ s most financially influential clients. They represent 33% of our clients and 50% of our assets under care. By 2025, they are projected to represent 50% of our clients and 75% of our assets. More than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer ’ s disease, with more than 15 million caretakers. Alzheimer ’ s is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. and the only disease in the top 10 that cannot be prevented, cured or slowed. A recent National Institutes of Health study found the average total health care costs in the last five years of life for people with dementia was $287,000 — and projected to rise to $750,000 in 20 years. Partnering for a Cure: In January 2016, Edward Jones entered an historic strategic alliance with the Alzheimer ’ s Association — committing cash, in -kind support and fundraising of $5 million over two years. Walking the Walk: As the exclusive National Presenting Sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer ’ s, we set a nationwide fundraising goal of $750,000.
