Engage: Community

In March 2016, 1st Global embarked on a new company-wide initiative to live out one of its guiding principles by aspiring to servant leadership through involvement in the Dallas community.  In order to best equip employees with local service opportunities, 1st Global launched a partnership with Entrepreneurs for North Texas, an organization in Dallas, Texas, that assists local companies who desire to make corporate impacts on their communities. Prior to beginning a partnership with EFNT, most service initiatives were grassroots efforts coordinated and managed by individual employees. However, with the resources that EFNT offers, community service is now supported as a corporate initiative, and company leadership encourage s all 205 full-time and part-time employees to be involved. It is through both collective and individual volunteer effort s, in conjunction with EFNT initiatives, that 1st Global was able to complete more than 250 volunteer hours in 2016.

The company’s purpose — “ 1st Global exists to enable intentional living ” — is stated four mornings a week at company meetings, and by investing in corporate responsibility, employees are discovering new ways to live out this purpose. In its inaugural year, 1st Global boasted 39 – percent participation among its employees and communally completed approximately 265 service hours in one calendar year.  About 80 employees participated throughout the year in various community service projects and giving efforts, which equates to just more than three hours of volunteer service per participant.
