G2G (Generation-to-Generation) Impact

CIBC Atlantic Trust’s Wealth Strategies Group, together with the Marketing Team, have developed a differentiated legacy offering through our G2G (Generation-to-Generation) Impact initiative. Our goal as a firm is to become known for legacy, so we’ve committed tremendous resources to innovate this program in the past few years, and have yet to see anything like it in the industry. In 2016, we had a number of key accomplishments: Developed Three Principles for a Successful Family Legacy:

1) Integrate planning for family wealth;
2) Evolve a healthy family wealth culture; and
3) Develop the rising generation, with related best practices and tools.

Developed and launched multi-generational family workshops (two- to four-hour sessions) and retreats (two half-day sessions), complete with agendas, exercises, materials and facilitator guides, to provide tangible ways for families to implement the three principles. Created new brochures to promote this offering – one for the primary client audience, and the other for the next-gen clients – and a matrix of the principles and best practices to introduce to clients. Implemented an internal legacy training program to teach CIBC AT Wealth Strategists and senior RMs how to deliver this new program. Created a 100+ page workbook with all tools needed to support the program. Innovated our online G2G Impact resource center, which houses educational videos, podcasts, blogs, reading lists, white papers, and expert commentaries.

Trusts

CIBC Atlantic Trust has continued to expand upon our trust capabilities. In April of 2015, CIBC Atlantic Trust officially received a Delaware limited purpose trust charter, establishing our Delaware trust company and expanding our trust capabilities beyond services already provided through our national trust company.

This valuable offering has provided our clients with access to beneficial Delaware trust laws and our firm access to important estate and wealth planning tools. It has rounded out our wealth strategies offering and has been appreciated by many of our clients around the country, who had long-awaited such a program. CIBC AT also offers educational resources on the advantages of Delaware through our white paper series, and Advisor magazine.

In 2016, the firm’s Wealth Strategies and Fiduciary Groups, together with the Marketing Team, have developed a monthly educational webinar series called “Wealth Strategies Wisdom and Wit.”During these webinars, CIBC Atlantic Trust professionals discuss various matters pertaining to trust administration and estate planning issues. At times, the group engages outside experts to weigh in on that month’s subject matter.
